Great News:

LB 850’s passage was delayed by the COVID-caused recess of the Legislature from March to July, but it passed in July and has been signed by the Governor.  The next step is the appointment of four committee members by the Secretary of State, which will hopefully happen soon.  If you have the opportunity, please thank (1) Senator Patty Pansing Brooks, who introduced the bill; (2) Senator Tom Brewer, who supported the bill as Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee; and (3) Senator and Speaker of the Legislature Jim Scheer, who made LB 850 one of his Speaker Priority Bills, without which the bill would not have passed.  These three senators were key in getting this bill passed into law.

Business Meeting; Election of Directors and Officers

With everything having been “on hold” for the past six months, the existing directors and officers will stand for reelection at the meeting on September 23, 2020.  If anyone is interested in serving as a director or officer, please let one of the existing directors and/or officers know, as “new leadership blood” is always welcome.  The existing officers are President Craig Schneider, Vice President Neal Nelson, Secretary-Treasurer Steve Guenzel.  The existing directors are the three officers, as well as Darrell Stock and Mark Nichols.  Steve Guenzel’s law firm will request reimbursement for the postage to mail out the Newsletter to the few members who do not have email ($43.66, $26.16 for the 2018-2019 year, and $17.50 for the 2019-2020 year).  There will also be a request to approve the 2020 Treasurer's Report.
